Mosaicplasty is minimally invasive, can be performed at a single session.

Osteochondral autologous transplantation is a surgical procedure that involves the transplant of the autologous cartilage from the non-weight bearing areas of the knee to the articular defect. It is a reliable and simple procedure in the treatment of full-thickness chondral lesions.

A major disadvantage of this technique is the donor site morbidity associated to the graft harvesting. To overcome this drawback, we harvest the autografts from the upper tibio-fibular joint with low or none donor site morbidity.

Mosaicplasty technique has a low complication rate and low cost.

It provides hyaline cartilage and allows a fast return to play. 
The mosaicplasty technique indicated for treating the cartilage defects up to 9 cm². 
Osteochondral autologous transplantation and mosaicplasty procedures remains an excellent option for small to medium osteochondral injuries resulting in long-term good to excellent clinical and imaging outcomes.
